Mrs. Walker's Class Wins the Door Decorating Contest!

We couldn't be more thrilled to reflect on the energy in the building as we begin to wrap up an incredible Black History Month celebration here at Veritas College Prep! Our scholars and staff truly outdid themselves this year, showcasing their creativity, passion, and deep appreciation for the rich history and contributions of Black Americans. The door decorating contest brought bursts of color and history into our hallways, with each door telling its own unique story of resilience and triumph. From depictions of influential figures to iconic moments in history, every entry was a testament to the creativity and dedication of our school community.

In addition to the door decorating contest, our scholars participated in various individual contests, including art, poetry, and creative writing, where they poured their hearts into expressing their admiration and understanding of Black history.

The culmination of our celebrations was the dynamic Black History Month program, "From Struggle to Triumph: A Journey Through History." Through captivating performances and presentations, we explored pivotal moments such as the Antebellum Period, the Harlem Renaissance, and the Civil Rights Movement. The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the "Taste of the HBCU Experience," where the VCP Dance Team and members of the Divine 9 Greek Organization from LeMoyne Owen College brought the energy and spirit of historically Black Colleges and Universities to life, leaving us inspired and filled with pride.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to making this month-long celebration a memorable and meaningful experience for our school community. Here's to honoring Black history not just in February but every day of the year!
